Super simple way to plan, manage schedule – Inline Editing of Project Schedule
ZilicusPM makes it really simple for project managers and project planners to plan, change & manage project schedule with all-new ‘Inline Editing’ of project schedule. You will find a distinct place in project workspace to perform Inline Editing. Please refer to screenshot below and you will realize how simple it is to
- Add new tasks
- Add sub-tasks
- Change task name, task dates, duration, resources, status and completion level
Simply click on the task name and task name will become editable; same way simple click on task start date will prompt you to select a new date. Changing task resources – adding new or removing existing resources assigned to task is incredibly easy now.
We are confident that ‘Inline Editing’ functionality will get extensively used. We believe it appeals to all those project managers who want to create simple straight forward project schedule like one created using spreadsheet.

ZilicusPM Inline Editing of Project Plan
NOTE: Inline Task Editing page is meant for basic scheduling; for project managers not well versed with Gantt chart or advance scheduling options. Tasks created using inline editing will have task estimation type as ‘Fixed Duration’ and resource assignment will be done with allocation level as per individual resource default allocation at project level. Even resources assigned to tasks with estimation type "Fixed Work or Fixed Duration & Fixed Work" edited using Project Schedule page will have resource allocated according to their project level default allocation. Hence for advance scheduling and using different task estimation types, we recommend using Advance Schedule and Gantt page.
Keyboard Hotkeys for Quick Project Planning
New set of keyboard hotkeys will make project planning quicker for project planner. Using these keyboard shortcut keys an user can quickly edit/update/delete tasks in project schedule. These keyboard shortcut keys available on Project Schedule screen. Some of the keyboard shortcut introduced are
F2 : Make selected task editable (ready to edit)
Escape : Exit editable mode for a selected task
Control + Insert : Add a new task below
Control + Shift + Insert : Add a new sub-task below
Delete : Delete a selected task
Tab : Once a given task is made editable, project planner can user tab to add/update task name, change start date, change duration, change task priority, update task status, update task % completion, assign resource(s)
